Granit countertops.
Granite is 100% natural stone: every slab is one of a kind, it takes heat better than quartz and can live outdoors. Our selection includes Cambrian Black, quarried in Quebec (Saint-Nazaire, Lac-Saint-Jean). ComptoirQuartz.ca distributes, fabricates and installs granite across Quebec.
Why choose a granite countertop?
Unlike engineered quartz, granite comes out of the quarry as is: no resin, better heat resistance (quartz resins fear hot dishes), outdoor use possible, and a slab whose pattern exists nowhere else. The honest take on upkeep: sealant only as needed — the test is simple, if a drop of water beads on the surface there is nothing to do; dense blacks like Black Pearl practically never need it.
Our selection: Cambrian Black — quarried in Saint-Nazaire, Lac-Saint-Jean, the local stone, offered polished or antiqued —, Black Pearl and Steel Grey (India, metallic flecks, very consistent from lot to lot) and Via Lattea (Brazil, spectacular white streaks on a black base). Compare them with quartz in the full countertop catalog.

Frequently asked questions about Granit
How much does a granite countertop cost in Quebec?
The price depends on the stone, the finish and your project. Request a free quote — reply within 24 business hours, measuring, fabrication and installation included.
Does granite need to be sealed every year?
No, not systematically. The right rule is the water-drop test: if water beads on the surface for several minutes, the sealant is still doing its job. Dense black granites like Black Pearl often never need sealing; other stones get resealed every few years.
Granite or quartz: which should you choose?
Granite wins on heat (you can set a hot dish on it, while quartz resins get damaged), outdoor use and the uniqueness of each slab. Quartz wins on upkeep (never any sealant) and pattern consistency. Our advisors show you both side by side.
Does Cambrian Black really come from Quebec?
Yes: it is quarried in Saint-Nazaire, Lac-Saint-Jean, at a quarry operated by Polycor, a Quebec City company. It is a deep black with no resin or dye and consistent colour — offered here in polished or antiqued finish.
What is the difference between polished and antiqued finishes?
Polished intensifies colour and shine but shows fingerprints and water marks more. Antiqued (matte, textured) hides them and has a leathery feel — it is especially striking on Cambrian Black.
What is the lead time for a granite countertop with ComptoirQuartz.ca?
Free quote within 24 business hours and installation lead time of 14 days after measuring, anywhere in Quebec.
